Sorry for my relative absence lately. The past two weeks have been kinda unbearable for me. A lot of pretty serious personal things have been going on, and I’d been getting less and less sleep each night. I was also spending a lot of my time preparing for the Art Market, and had to dedicate whole days to setting up the stall, getting prints done, hunting for frames, etc.
I was getting to the point where I was just so exhausted, so miserable and so unlike myself that any thing could’ve pushed me over the edge. Have you been through that before? When you’re just feeling so damn fragile that the tiniest thing will suddenly make you completely lose your shit, or you start crying brazenly over nothing at all (or everything).

Anyway — the Art Market. The past few days have been completely dedicated to preparing for my first ever art market (and man, this one seems great). It was hell on earth hunting around for all the things I needed, but once we finally started to set up, it was strangely therapeutic (especially in amongst all the chaos of my week). The people in charge — Louise, Andrew & Tim — are all exceptionally lovely and just so helpful. They provided everything for us: a table, hammer & nails, a huge white wall to which we could do whatever the hell we wanted (as long as we restored it afterwards). I love them!! :D
I’ve been chatting to the artists in the stalls around me, and they’re all such down to earth, really friendly folks. To add to the sense of community there, the cafe right next to us provided us with some ridiculously amazing complimentary food. I had the most delicious focaccia, filled with cheese, chicken, mushroom & rocket. Oohhhh.
I’m sharing a stall with my lovely Tash (you MUST check our her artwork). She & I have begun decorating our wallspace using sharpies & black acrylic paint. I’ve never done anything like a mural before, nor have I used traditional media for the LONGEST time ever (mechanical pencils not included). It is a ridiculous amount of fun. I need to draw on walls more often, haha.
Anyway, here are some snapshots taken a few days ago:

Tash’s gorgeous work. <3
Starting to work on the wall using sharpies & black paint. I started doing the ladieezz on the top left, and she did all the ornamental lettering & stuff on the bottom right. <3
Some close-ups.
More close-ups. It was so much fun!! But no undo button.. :S
A close up of Tash’s wonderful linework.
Mushrooms!
A close-up of Tash’s lovely sign. (We are members of the Secret Circus Troupe.)
However, the market finally opened last night and it was GREAT (from the little time I was there, haha). Unfortunately I’d had work so I could only come within the final hour. But did manage to meet some seriously lovely people. :)
The only place where I’ve ever sold my artwork was at Manifest and it is worlds away from what I’ve been experiencing at the gallery. This market is a collection of artists, designers, jewellery makers, tailors, etc, (you name it) from all walks of life.
So please come! Details are as follows:
NO VACANCY ART MARKET
Where: No Vacancy Gallery, 27-33 Red Cape Lane (QV Building), Melbourne
When: 24 April – 17 May
Times: Thu-Fri – 11am – 9pm, Tues-Wed, Sat-Sun – 11am to 5pm
More info here.
As soon as I got home last night, I completely crashed. I had about fifteen hours of sleep and I feel so, so much better. :) Time for heaps of food and to get down on a lot of work! Yawp.
