The Digital Dreams group art exhibition will be on ‘til September 9, so drop by while you still can!  More details here.
-
Well, the opening of the show was kind of amazing.  I was pretty much running on adrenaline, nervous tension, sugar and sheer will power on the day.  Due to Manifest, I had only a WEEK to prepare for the show, and I was fucking frantic.  Those of you who know me are aware that I’m usually pretty zen about most things, and it takes a lot to stress me out, but oohh shiatsu was I stressed.  I guess when it comes to things that matter most to me, I take it very, very seriously.  (Way too seriously.)  And of course, everything that could possibly go wrong, well, did.  My carefully (read: loosely) planned schedule fell to shit and I was still setting up an hour before the show.
While it was a great honour to be a part of my first show (with a group of talented digital artists), the best thing about the night was the people who came to see me.  For over three hours, familiar faces kept flowing through the doors: acquaintances, old highschool friends, uni friends, friends to whom I hadn’t seen nor spoken for years, and people I didn’t even know were interested in (and followed) my work.  I was so amazed; I couldn’t express my gratitude enough.  (I even got FLOWERS.  Thank you, Tina & Ruu!)
I ended the night with a Mexican feast, drinks & dear friends, followed by crashing deliriously into bed.
Y’know.  I was so nervous about the opening, worried that nobody would like my stuff, but it turned out my fears were for naught.  Everything fell into place in the end, largely thanks to my wonderful fellah, Biya & Tash.  And of course, Tessa, without whom this show would not be possible.  Thanks, guys.  And thank you to everyone who came to support me!
AND thank you to those who couldn’t make it!  I had no idea anyone outside my immediate circle of friends would even turn up to this shindig, so to receive a mass of apologetic texts/messages for not being able to make it, was so so sweet.
(I’ll post more photos after the show ends, otherwise it’ll defeat the purpose of inviting you to come! :P)

Really exciting news, guys: my first EVER art show is coming up!  It’ll be held in Brunswick Street Gallery.  If you’re in the area, please drop by.  The show runs from 27 August - 2 September.
Come on the opening night to chat with the artists (including me! :D).  Also one extremely lucky attendee will be chosen at random to win a copy of Adobe Design Premium Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom 3!
I’m really really excited/nervous/worried.  But yeah!  Please come!

Also, I’m probably not going to be able to update my blog this week as I’ll be frantically preparing for the show and probably getting no sleep at all.  But I’ll be back next week. :)

Thank you!

Just wanted to say THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone who visited me and/or bought something from my table at Manifest.  Despite having only half a table (thank you so much for letting me share with you, Beth!), I managed to do really well. I was also fortunate enough to meet with a variety of lovely folk.  And I’m stoked.

See you guys at Manifest ‘11. :)

Just a quick note to let you Melbournians know that I’ll be attending the Melbourne Anime Festival today and over the weekend.  (I AM ACTUALLY LIKE THREE HOURS LATE AS WE SPEAK but anyway.)

I’ll be selling prints of my work, as well as bookmarks and badges.  And I will be offering my extremely, extremely tired self to you for entertainment purposes.  Come visit me! (But not right NOW cos I’m not there yet.)  Don’t be shy!

Alright! Here’s a piece commissioned by Kelly Fairchild.  This is Amalin, a Paladin and a veteran warrior.
Kelly was an absolute joy to work with as she allowed me much, much freedom.  She was also just so patient and cheerful. The only constraints I had were that I had to keep her elven ears, and make sure she had an air of discipline.  (And sexiness.  Sexy discipline.)
I had a lot of fun with this.  I tried out a different colouring method and tried to create detail in a much quicker & looser way.

Another WIW-style commission done!  This time I had the pleasure of illustrating Edit & Alex.  They’re such a cute (and talented) couple. :)
You really must visit their websites to see Edit’s illustrations and Alex’s photography.

It’s Tumblr Tuesday! This week I’m nominating Amei to the Tumblr Directory.  I was extremely fortunate to stumble across her blog yesterday and was completely enamoured with her effortless, expressive style.  You must visit her!
Don’t forget to support your favourite blogs.  If you enjoy reading mine, you can recommend me here. :)

And now for something a little different.  Fineliner pen + moleskine.
Inspired by the work of Aaron Billings.  (Go! Check him out!)

Finally got around to finishing this one.  Pretty frustrated with the whole piece buuut the client is happy with her, so that’s all that matters in the end.  This is Kakila, an evil priestess with really, really long hair.

Here’s the first WIW-style commission done.  Meet the sassy Lynette.  The pink streak in her hair is too damn cool.
